For those of you who started reading Spots the Space Marine and lost track of it after a while, I've put together a compiled and edited version--including a rewrite of the first 15 or so episodes to bring it up to the standards of the rest of the story--and complete with the graphic novel pages, on the Amazon store:

http://www.amazon.com/Spots-Space-Marine-Defense-ebook/dp/B006MGJYOE/

The Smashwords version is forthcoming, but my Amazon version is DRM-free so you could probably use Calibre to change it over to anything you want.

Three of the reviews from Webfiction Guide got quoted in the beginning of the book! So thank you for those. :)

Hello to everyone here at Web Fiction Guide.
Now that my two stories are listed here, I would like to share my web serial site, Ayami Publications, with everyone here: http://ayami.rain.org/

There I am serializing novels I have written (and I hope to one day also share the work of other writers, if I can ever get out of the cave long enough to find any) . There are currently two going, which are listed here on Web Fiction Guide at:
http://webfictionguide.com/listings/beyond-knowledge/
and http://webfictionguide.com/listings/to-see-the-stars/

Both are sci-fi, but while To See the Stars as God is more an adventure story, Beyond Knowledge is a social drama.
Please read and comment, and know that there will be many more stories there in the future, all of which I will be listing here.

The edited Volume One of Refuge of Delayed Souls (currently being posted) is due to complete in a couple of weeks. I will then start to post Volume Two.

I've been asked to make available e-book versions of the story which can be downloaded onto handheld devices and mobiles. What I know about these things could be written on the back of a postage stamp!

I've taken a look at the Smashwords site and from what I've read so far it seems to offer what I need.

Does anyone here have experience of Smashwords - either as a writer or a reader? Would you recommend it?

Is there another site you would recommend?

I thought you guys would be interested in Inkmesh, a search engine for ebooks. It appears to search major sites, including Project Gutenberg and Kindle, but I'm sure there's a way we could figure out how to squeeze our own ebooks in. Any thoughts?

A new "social network" has been formed with the aim of being a nexus or "umbrella" to tie together the various strands of the "eWriting" community.

Originally conceived because the existing writing websites don't have sections for online literature and such, New Media Network is hoping to become a resource and connector for those who write for these new forms of expression.

It's brand new, but has started interviews, links listings, info on ware as well as just writing, and connects to several discussion forums, including this one. You can upload pictures of your covers or screenshots, as well as videos dealing with these matters. There are groups with discussions and hot mailing to other members, and you can forum groups of your own or start your own blog.

It has a really easy RSS feed add on each personal profile.

It's part of the ning.com "network of networks" and is therefore worth joining if only to take advantage of the powerful promotional abilities of ning.

If you've never signed up on a ning.com site before, it's suggested that you start at ning.com and set up a "ning ID", which makes it very quick to join other networks.
Also that you use a square avatar or personal photo. Around 150 to 180 pixels square seems to work best.

Come on over and check it out. Sign up now and grow it around you. If nothing else, it's another place to put your name and RSS feed and a link to your project.

http://newwriting.ning.com/

Hey all... I'm working out the deets for a new project, and have been stumped on an aspect of it that I'm hoping someone here could help me out with.

I've been thinking about allowing site visitors to download individual short stories for a pittance, but I have no idea what kind of format that download should be in. It has to be simple for me to create and a file that cannot be tampered with (for instance, no one can download the file, erase my name and hawk it as their own work). I was thinking .pdf, but iPhones and ebook readers don't really use that, or so I'm under that impression. Or should I offer multiple format choices?

- Frances

So you run an online serial until the story is pretty much told...then what? No more feed, for one thing.

It seems like a logical next step would be creating an eBook version and trying to sell CD's and downloads.

We're looking at that, with some innovations, but it's not as easy as it looks, especially with a non-sequential book like ours. How to you re-create a tag cloud in an ebook. (we're working on it)

But for normal chaptered books, it seems almost inevitable.

How many have done this, or are looking at it? And how did/are you approaching it?
