My Steampunk Fantasy series, 'Shadow - Monsters, Machines and Mad Scientists' has just been added to the listings and I would be most grateful to anyone with the time and inclination to give it a quick browse and either tell me what you think, or post a review on the listings page.

Read it if you like a quick read, adventure, slightly mad characters, a dash of humour, a bit of intrigue.

Don't read it if you're looking for great literature. This is definitely for entertainment rather than enlightenment.

Thank you.

So, I finished The Last Skull (for now), and I've picked up another story, Company of Crows, which is in more of a fantasy genre than my previous work (I've been a huge fan of fantasy since forever, and wanted to try something a little more slowly paced than I usually write).

I thought I'd mention it here in case anyone was interested in reading. I've also given thought to starting up a review blog, if only because I've been told my reviews are entertaining, and I'd like to keep reading and writing to stave off the godawful bouts of depression.

I still have to refit the navigation for Company of Crows (at the moment, there are only five chapters, so navigation is minimal--but eventually I'm considering instigating podcasts possibly, along with the standard table of contents), but otherwise I'd love to hear what people think (I've submitted it to webfiction guide already, but I imagine it's going to be a while before it's up and posted on the site).

Huge loss to the fantasy community on March 26th with the death of Diana Wynne Jones, author of Howl's Moving Castle and the Chrestomanci series. If you haven't picked up one of her books, honor her passing with an experience you won't regret. :C

After working out some issues with my Table of Contents I got approved this week for inclusion in the Web Fiction Guide.

The listing page is here if anyone who likes fantasy wants to take a look and possibly vote.

M.C.A. Hogarth on "Review Requests: Spots the Space Marine and Kherishdar Collection"

I'm slowly beginning to read some of the work listed on WFG and reviewing it, so I thought I'd toss my offerings onto the pile and request a read-throughs. I've got three things up:

For science fiction readers, Spots the Space Marine is a military SF serial (currently being posted twice a week) about a retired Marine leaving her family to head out into space and help kill the crabs. The pacing is quick; it's written like a script and has occasional illustrations. The story is told mostly in dialogue.

You can jump straight to the episode list here: http://www.stardancer.org/spots/episodes/

For quasi-fantasy readers, I have two completed collections, The Aphorisms of Kherishdar and the Admonishments of Kherishdar. These are both composed of 25 pieces of 2-page flash fiction, linked, about the alien culture of the Ai-Naidar. The Aphorisms collect wisdom tales told from the viewpoint of a Public Servant, the Calligrapher, and each short illustrates a single word in the alien language and ends with an alien aphorism. The Admonishments is the companion volume and tells how crime and punishment is handled by the same aliens; each short discusses a crime or sin from the viewpoint of the criminal, and the central figure weaving all these stories together is the priest who serves Shame.

For the Aphorisms, and a meditative feel: http://www.stardancer.org/kherishdar

For the Admonishments, darker and with some trigger material: http://www.stardancer.org/kherishdar2

Anyway, if SF/F of this kind is your speed, I'd appreciate the chance to entertain you. :)

--M.

Hello, everyone!

I'd like to request a review of both my site and its contents. The website itself is A Nail From Which to Hang the Heavens (http://nail.prismaticmedia.com/). So far, I have one completed novel (Child of Man), one nearing the end of its run (Beautiful World), and one that's still early in its development (Bonds of Silver, Bonds of Gold). I'm also about to start work on my fourth. In addition, I have a number of short stories which I use as interstitial material.

I know everyone's time is valuable, and investing it in an untested author can be a gamble, but I hope a few people will be able to take the time to help me out. Thanks in advance for your support and attention.

Sincerely,

Erm, hello. I'd like some reviews and feedback on my webnovel site, http://dragonoftwilight.net, which is home to my Webnovel, The Last Twilight Dragon of Gaia. It features lots of non-human characters, some of which take on more of a furry appearance. The important thing to note is that humans exist, but they're classified as a "minority" species. It has quite a bot of backstory so far, including a history page. My main problem is that I'm new to EVERYTHING, website design, online novels, site promotion, and this is the first piece of mine to actually see any light whatsoever. There's a fairly easy-to-access feedback script and I've verified that it does work and gets relayed to my gmail account. So, if anyone's willing to check it out and let me know if something sucks or something looks great, that'd be awesome.

EDIT: Uh, please note that there's some violence, although it's not descriptive. And there's lots of innuendo. (Sorry, no descriptively raunchy stuff.) And on occasion, it also has some humor to it. Oh, and nothing is truly sacred...

It's taken me some time to get this up--about four months--but at long last, Cloudnigh is live.

Cloudnigh is an online light-serial taking place in the somewhat-distant future, after humanity's relocation to a new world at lightspeed warps their genetic make up, giving them two hearts and complete energy efficiency. Against this backdrop is the tricardiac mutant, Roman Fairchild, a seventeen-year-old whose online relationship to Kyrie Kapoor comes to a head when her band posts a show in his home town. All seems to be going well, until The Siphon, a sinister war game replacing executive government comes literally crashing down on his doorstep. Soon, everything Roman knows is thrown into upheaval as the world, both at home and abroad, seems ready to rend itself apart.

You can find the site at http://cloudnigh.com, and the forums at http://leophimforums.com. The story is updated on Tuesdays and Fridays. =)

Hope you enjoy it. Thanks for reading!

All right, so I just finished posting the last chapter of the first installment of my animal fantasy-adventure-drama series, Tasakeru.

No, seriously! It's better than it sounds, honest! Don't run away! ;P

All joking aside, I would really appreciate any feedback that you experienced forum-goes could give. Now that the first book is posted, did you like it overall? Were you confused? What improvements need to be made?

Please, be descriptive. Any and all questions, comments, and constructive criticisms are welcome.

High All!
A long, long time ago I wrote some fanfics *blushes. That's all long done now, since I have moved on to writing my own stuff. Now I am planning on posting some of my stories online, as a serial novel. However, there is one thing I miss from my fanfic period now I am about to start for my own. Beta-readers.

English is not my first language, and I have no idea if I make strong grammar mistakes or not. Before I start posting chapters like crazy I am thus in need of someone who would like to read 1 chapter to check on strong language mistakes. If there are plenty I would have to work on my English first before diving in the serial-novel adventure, since that will be a huge step on it's own.

The story itself is low-fantasy, and the first chapter is about 3000 words long.
If there are any volunteers I would be very grateful. I think I need critique on grammar and sentence-building most (In my first language we tend to write in long, long sentences...), but any other critique you feel like giving is appreciated, good or bad.

You can read the first chapter here, on my test-website.

Decided to start a new post for my edification. Can some of the authors of fantasy stories explain fantasy to scifi guys like me? I have been reading many of the fantasy stories from members of this site and much of it goes over my head. So, can people explain the main archetypes? The difference between the types of elves, ogres, knights, shape-shifters, etc? You see, we scifi authors basically have humans ans aliens. Sometimes zombies. Pretty easy. Many times the worls is in danger or ends. That's the gist of our stories. Help a brother muggle out.
