Inspired by John Crandall's post, today's segment actually marks a couple of important numerical milestones for what has been my baby non-stop for the last four years. I wanted to tell everyone so maybe you can share a cheer and a big sigh with me!

225 posts. 250,000 words. 1000 pages. 2.3 novels. 6 years from the first idea to the current day.

It's been a hell of a journey, and I hope my faithful readers will stick around to the end of this (for me) mammoth piece of work.

I've got something to shout about today, so allow me to commence:

STREET: Clairvoyance is out! The print paperback edition has been released and is ready to buy at fine stores everywhere!

It's the full second volume in an explosive trilogy of intrigue, action and insanity, so if you haven't started reading STREET yet, now would be a great time and the paperbacks are a great way of catching up to the (still free!) web serial.

Check out our Ordering page for more info on where to get it.

If you're interested in buying both volumes, I can tell you that the Empathy paperback will soon be lowering in price to match Clairvoyance. We're also going to be giving out vouchers for free Smashwords copies of Empathy, so if you'd like one, be sure to post here and I'll get those to you as soon as they're ready!

I'm very excited. Can you tell?

Regards,

Hi guys,

It's been a long while since any new reviews of STREET appeared on the WFG -- more than 15 months, the last one was posted in March 2009! -- but the story has been moving on, with some significant rewrites and reworkings of the second book, which is now complete. I'd like to ask old fans and new readers to have a look and see whether there's anything worth writing about. ;)

The link, as always, is:

Is anyone else going to this one?

Ryan Span on "STREET cover quote contest"

Adapted from the main site:

Hey STREET fans, we've got something new for you!

If you follow Ryan/STREET on Twitter or Facebook, you'll have seen this already, a preview of the new Clairvoyance cover by the great artist Jan Pospisil, who also delivered the lovely Empathy cover back in the day.

What's new is that we're running a wee contest; we want you to give us your opinion of the STREET series, or Clairvoyance specifically if you've been following things on the website. The most awesome line (or two!) will be given space on the back cover of Clairvoyance, with full credit!

If you're a writer, it's one way to get some cross-promotion for your name and that of your webfic.

There are three ways you can submit your entries. You can e-mail them to cs [at] streetofeyes [dot] com, with the subject 'STREET quote contest'; you can post them on Twitter in one or more Tweets with the hashtag #streetquote; or you can post them to the STREET page on Facebook.

This contest will run until 1 May, at which point the winner(s) will be announced.

Hey, it could be you. ;)

I'm happy to announce that I'll be starting a brand new column for readers and writers at Xenagia.com. It's going to be a regular op-ed about genre fiction, with articles about writing, publishing, the industry and fiction in general.

Now, apart from reading it, I'd like your input as well! If you have any ideas for column topics or if you know anything you'd like me to write about, please post them here or e-mail them to me at cs -at- streetofeyes -dot- com. If I pick up the idea then your name will be mentioned in the article.

Well, I've gone ahead and done it -- I created some STREET t-shirts which are now up for sale in one of those horribly overpriced web shops. However, they may be pricy, but they definitely look the business.

http://streetofeyes.spreadshirt.com/us/US/Shop/ (edit: originally was http://www.printfection.com/streetofeyes)

I'm getting some in for my own use, and I really look forward to wearing them.

What I'm wondering is, if you were a fan of a web fiction title, would you pay these sorts of prices for a branded shirt? Would you check something out if you saw an interesting logo on someone's t-shirt? Do you think merchandising is important to online entertainment ventures?

Tell me what you think!

Well, I'm shouting this one off the rooftops -- starting today I'm publishing SIGMA, a brand new STREET universe story on Twitter. It will feature multiple story updates a day and is interactive; the main character will respond to direct messages and @replies. It's something you should be paying attention to! ;)

You can find SIGMA here: https://twitter.com/sigmastory

It's set decades before the events in Empathy, none of the familiar STREET characters have been born yet, but the past has been known to echo into the future in some ways . . .

In any case, it's cool and you need to follow it.

At the moment I'm getting in between 20-30 hits a month from my WFG listing and several more from the forums. Also around 20 from onlinenovels.net, but they don't seem to stick around much.

How's everyone else doing out of it?

Hi guys!

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Gryphonwood Press, which has (among other things) published my own serial Street, has given the green light for a great new experiment; we are now considering web fiction for publication in novel format.

We've added some web fiction-specific parts to our submission guidelines on the site, which are pretty clearly written as far as I can see, and I've taken the liberty of copying them here:

"Web Fiction Specific- Completed books or series submit as normal. For active stories, submissions must be in a publishable format, i.e. the book you want to submit must have a clear beginning, middle and end whether it is part of a series or not. Even if we pick up your story, we will not require you to take down your site."

What we do for authors is also clearly stated in our submission guidelines. It's a hell of a lot better than self-publishing, so if you've got a story that falls within our criteria and are brave enough to put your work to the test, we'd love to hear from you.

Note: We don't currently have a specific set of submission requirements, but as a rule we only take top-notch publishable work. For example, stories where much of the page count is dedicated to graphic sex have no chance, regardless of genre. We don't expect your stories to be completely anaemic or politically correct but please keep submissions sane in order to save our editors valuable time.

Please pick up/spread this announcement wherever it may be appropriate.

Regards,

Hi guys,

I'm taking a holiday off Street, so I'm looking for a bit of guest content to keep things interesting. If you have any stories lying around, or want to create something new, I'll be happy to run it as long as it's good! Any length is fine, and any subject -- I'd prefer cyberpunk or other gritty sci-fi but I'll consider any sort of piece. As I said, the only requirement is that it be good.

In return you'll get a big splash intro for you and your story, a link attached to every page/segment you contribute, and a permanent link off the Street site. I'll also consider writing guest content in return after my break.

Art would be acceptable as well, I certainly wouldn't turn up my nose at it.

Please post here if you're interested or e-mail me at cs - at - streetofeyes - dot - com. I'd like to run the first bit on wednesday if possible, but there's no significant time limit.

Regards,
