Eh, this isn't really webfiction. It's for people wanting FINISHED stories, i.e. novels, short stories, and the like that are ebooks. Just browse through the forums and you'll it plain as day. This is just another wrong turn down Optimism Lane.

See, we're all still GUESSING that they'd like webfiction, and we're HOPING that there's some people that like both who hang out there, but there's no hard data that supports it. It's not even probable. It's another maybe.

Huh? Are you aware that the first post in this thread was made 5 months ago? Has it occurred to you that perhaps some of the people on THIS forum might have been participating on THAT forum for months, and have something more than guesses and hopes to go on?

And are you seriously telling me that you can't imagine any writer of serial fiction eventually finishing a serial and turning into an ebook (or five), and hence finding an ebook-readers' forum a useful resource? *boggle*

I've been participating/marketing at mobileread.com since 2008, and I know that many sales have come to me through there. I added the first novel of my series to that sites free ebook collection, so that's probably a driver of sales, but I get traffic from my signature link too.

And since the site is called mobileread, I think that web fiction would qualify. I assume some web fiction readers are using handheld devices, so it is reasonable that the mobileread audience will definitely have some people interested in web fiction.

There's a group for online serial fiction at Goodreads too:
http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/22783.Web_Serial_Fiction
It's new, but has room to grow.

Issue? No issue, just saying. It's an incredible resource.

But one thing, technically eBooks are not "web fiction" Even the fiction ones. You read an ebook offline.

But you're right, it hardly matters, it's a great site to be aware of.

Thanks for the link, Nomesque! (As you've spotted) I've introduced myself over there. Let's see what happens! Already have a handful of click-throughs from the link you posted, so it looks good so far!

thanks for the heads up about the site! i've bookmarked it, partially out of optimism that i too may have a completed ebook to hawk and partially to stalk potential readers. :)

The whole thing about online fiction readers is that you have to 'convert' them to read fiction online. I think that eBook readers would be easier to convert then regular readers, since they already made the digital shift.
Many of the people here are also offering some eBook formats of their work, so it's definitely an option I believe.

Considering that some ebook readers also have RSS feed aggregators... depends on your feed, I guess. Would probably NOT suit the partial feed suppliers :-)

Besides, 'web fiction' includes blogs AND ebooks - what's the issue?

Well, but... those are eBook readers, not blog readers necessarily.

A GREAT resource site for anybody wanting to get into ebooks.

But is it really a white underbelly of online fiction readers waiting for us to have our way with?
