    The link is already up here but I still wanted to take the time to say that "Everybody Dies #8: Non-Cannibalistic Dinner Parties" is up! As you may know, this entry was written by Spivak, who just started in the serial writing game. If you are a fan of "Welcome To Nightvale" and like your horror to be on the anachronistic side then you will love their entry. You will love their serial too, for that matter, which you can find at Royal Road Legends:

    I will also be joining the fray and will be posting my own entry into the series next week. I will also be putting up a poll so that people can vote on their favorite entry in this series. My own story will not be eligible on the poll.

    @Guest Writers
    You do not have to promote my own entry. This is just me acting on my FOMO. I would suggest sharing the poll with your readers once it is up, however, to better your chances, and maybe to promote your own favorite story. I'll do this more officially next week, but I did want to thank you all for your hard work, and for just being plain awesome. It was an honor working with you :D

    Also: if you guys don't want me to do the poll let me know. This was not originally supposed to be a competition but I think it could help enthuse readers to share their favorite.

    @Fiona Gregory
    Thank you for pointing that out! I did not have time to reply (I was at work) but I changed it the moment I saw your post :D

    Of course! I'll be happy to do a sort of "dissection" with my own stats sometime after the poll closes.

    To the readers: we are nothing without you, thank you for giving us a chance :D

    The poll for the event is up and has about twelve votes so far. You can find it at the bottom of my own entry: <--super shameless plug

    Agreed. It was pretty interesting, reading all these stories with so many different themes and characters, all headed to the same end. Here's one thing I liked in each story:

    Rainy Days - The abrupt shift at the end, not even showing her death but letting the reader slowly realize what happened, hit quite hard and was very touching.
    Scourge - The world building was quite nice. You didn't bury the reader with exposition, but let them try and piece it together. I was never quite lost, and what I learned was pretty intriguing.
    Cybercelestial - I liked the action scenes. They were well-written and managed to be easy to follow while still chaotic and exciting.
    1953 - The tension in this one was good. Through the whole story I was waiting for the other shoe to drop, and although we never saw or even knew 'the Shade' I was still pretty intimidated by it.
    Angel - This one was creepy. Between the cult in the middle of nowhere, the gruesome killing and then the murder-angel, it managed to unsettle me. Nice atmosphere.
    Curse of the Magi - The ending was great. Unlike so many other, it managed to be triumphant despite everybody dying, and was a very good twist ending. Kudos.
    A Story for Three - The three characters managed to become quite likable, despite their short screen-time. The characters were definitely the strong point of this one.
    Atomic Death and Taxes - A very humorous story, in a dark and understated way. Instead of jokes, it had an absurd situation and played it absolutely straight. That was a fun one to read.

    These aren't reviews. Again, just things I liked about each story. Glad to be a part of it. Thanks for setting it up, Revfitz.

    Alright Y'all! Here are the results for the poll:
    And... It's a tie! Both "Angel" and "Cybercelestial" were voted best in the series by participants and reader alike. I'm gonna be that parent that doesn't want to choose because I loved them all. Thank you to everyone who voted :)

    Now that the event is done I am mulling some ideas presented to me about a possible anthology, but for that I will reach out to y'all personally. I'm pretty sure I am going to be burned at the stake if I keep posting about this here (now two months in).

    Please consider using your stories as social proof to present to others for guest posting opportunities. Remember, the worst that can happen is someone says "no" ;) I know that writer outreach is time intensive, but it is accumulative and can be very powerful for self-promotion without backlash. Aim for the moon, settle for the world.

    This community has treated me very well. Thank you all for what you have taught me :D

    It was at least on my end. Thank you for your story, it is always a pleasure working with you.

    Thank you for raising your hand when you did. I wish you luck in the Serial game. Also: I agree with all of your assessments in the stories. My personal favorite part of this event was learning about new ways that people can die.

    I'm honored by the votes. I just want to say, this whole event has been the most fun writing I've had in a while. It's been a great opportunity and community event. I think I speak for everyone when I say thanks to you, Revfitz, for hosting and organizing. We should do more of these!

    CHOSEN SHACKLES The screen is running static. Face your shadow.
    DIRGE The light is dying. Hold your breath and go gently.
