Hello! So, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm new around here and just wanted to introduce myself. I was referred here by someone that uses the site and likes it a lot, and I trust them! So... basically, I got into Interlochen Arts Academy on a full scholarship for creative writing when I was 14, and then basically did nothing with that. I didn't pursue creative writing for about 5 years, I actually got into standup instead. That's going well, but I've been missing writing lately, and want to see if I'm still any good. And if I am, I'd like to pursue it in earnest.

So... that's my life story. Hope to get to know you guys!

Nice to meet you, Archivist! I'm Rhythm. Yeah. We tend to like creative writing quite a lot here. I myself write Touch over on touchwebserial.com, an attempt to put my psych degree to use in writing an informative adventure story that aims to educate my readers a little better about the after effects and recovery process of different types of abuse. We all have our sort of niche, here, or at least, I like to think so. So you do standup work? That sounds fun. You must have quite the wit.

Hi Rhythm! Your work sounds really interesting to me personally, I'd like to check it out. Interesting, and probably important too. I always enjoy people using their craft to try and help the world how they can. And yeah I do standup, I enjoy it a lot. I actually just got into the semi finals of something called the Detroit to LA Challenge, which I'm excited about!

Oh, yeah, that does sound cool! Have you got a link to any performances or anything? If you aren't cool with sharing it in a public forum, you can email me at touchwebserial@gmail.com, or just not tell me because I'm a near total stranger.

To be perfectly honest, I'd trust people on here more than people in some of the clubs I play at :D I can see if I can dig something up, I don't film much of my stuff but I believe I have a semi-recent one somewhere on my computer.

Only very vaguely related to creative writing, but yeah here's something from like 6 months back. I just posted it like a second ago, figured it was time to get over that fear lol

Hehe. Yeah. You're funny. Probs not gonna answer anymore on here, though, because my main account seems to be having hiccups with this comment chain.

No problem! Also for anyone else on here I was wondering exactly what the protocol is for submitting things? Like if I just wanted to proverbially dip my toes in the water, is there a place I can upload just the prologue of this serial I'm working on?

Sorry, I'm VERY new to all this!

Well, I mean, here, there's kind of a minimum of five thousand words (ish) or three consecutive chapters. Kind of a proofing measure against people just dropping their own stories halfway through.

Plus, we don't actually upload stuff to this site. It's an archive of links to all of our own sites.

Hey Archivist, very nice to meet you! The submission guidelines can be found at webfictionguide.com/about/submissions/

Like Rhythm said, the site usually won't accept anything that doesn't have a few chapters or a few thousand words, but everyone's always welcome to post WIP sites and pitches for stories here in the forums for feedback or just to share. If you don't have one already, I'd suggest popping over to Wordpress.com and getting yourself an account/site set up. It may take some fiddling to figure out all the settings, but they're a good go-to for a lot of people (and they're free which is a big plus).

Looking forward to seeing what stories you've got in mind!

Thank you, that's all very helpful! I'm very nervous about putting myself out there but everyone seems really nice so that helps! Either tonight or tomorrow I'll probably post something in the forums to see if I can get some feedback!

Here it is. I probably didn't give enough info, but I posted more details in a response. I was hesitant to share too much out of nervousness lol
