I can be such a moron sometimes!

For the last half of December and the first half of January I was busy migrating my site off Drupal 7 and onto WordPress 5. I did it BY HAND

(by hand)

BY HAND BY HAND BY HAND BY HAND BY HAND BY HAND BY HAND BY HAND

and if you're wondering why I seem to be ranting juuuuust a little bit it's because it was (and still is) a lot of content

(a lot of content, stretching back to nineteen-friggin'-ninety-six)

And I'm actually not DONE YET since the nineteen-friggin'-ninety-six piece is only migrated up through October of 2000

BUT MY POINT IS

(sorry, this whole thing has me a little manic)

ahem

My point is, a number of links changed, because WordPress and Drupal handle permalinks differently, and Drupal is a little more flexible about how you customize them. Which meant that I wound up having to update all my RSS feeds, because those changed (the apparent differences between WordPress and Drupal RSS are fascinating, by which I mean "not actually fascinating, just aggravating") but I forgot that the links to the actual CONTENT had changed as well so when I updated their listings on WFG I got a message saying "yeah, we require you link to the first chapter."

At which point I got all self-righteously ragey and started ranting about how they WERE pointing to the front the page, and how DARE they say they weren't and how I WOULD CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION IN A STRONGLY WORDED LETTER (look, I'm not defending this behavior but I'm seriously behind on sleep) and then I noticed that they were THE LINKS TO THE OLD SITE

...maybe I should cut down on coffee, too.

Nope, can't do it. It would be barbaric. Also the caffeine headache would probably kill me.

Anyway, that brings me back to the topic title, which is "I can be such a moron sometimes!" I sheepishly updated all the links and thanked all that is Good and Just that I didn't ride that specific wave of idiocy to my ultimate humiliation. Then I decided, what the heck, I might as well cop to it anyway, we've all been there, though mostly on Twitter.

I like the new site, though. https://www.eviscerati.org
