National Novel Writing Month

Greetings, fellow writers!

I was wondering: Who of you does partake in the beautiful insanity that is the NaNo? This year I'm in again.
I think it is a wonderful idea and for serialists it is an opportunity to try and get a backlog done. I think. At least that's what I'm trying to do.
I have written a three to four installment story which only needs polish and is basically good to go as my November-Arc. So I'll have the time to write my 50.000 words on a novel. I'm not sure what to do with it, but I value the schedule and deadline stuff.

For those of you who don't know: The NaNo is a month where all around the world people gather to write a Novel. In a month. Which is basically measured by the - not very novel-legnthy - 50.000 words to be written between November 1st, 00.01 o'clock and November 30th, 23.59 o'clock.

So: Who of you is taking part and might it be possible to do something special if enough people here want to?

I had never heard of that before. I suppose I'll take a look.

I've participated in the past. After 4 straight years of exhausting myself to the point I can't write from December-March I decided I'm not doing it anymore. Seriously, fun challenge but it interferes too much with my writing pace.

However, I want to do this for November though:

Basically, you get a notebook and you fill it up from back to front. Since it can be anything from stories, doodles, journal entities to art. I mean this speaks to my creative side in general which needs nurturing sometimes as well. Also, I at least find this challenging as my ability to keep a daily journal has always ended in failure.

I did every NaNoWriMo since it's third year until last year. Just couldn't, last year. No time. Maybe this year. Dunno.

I used to do nano, but for the past four or five years I've spent all of nano in the forums. Seriously, the forums are amazing. There are tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of writers and potential writers (who are all, at least, readers) exchanging ideas, and just generally being cool.

I'll be popping a link to Sanctioned in my signature and posting on the forums like crazy. Whilst being nice and helpful, too.

Maybe I'll see a big November-December swing in traffic. If not, I'm sure I'll come away with five novels worth of inspiration. I usually do.

NaNo has been an impossibility for me, November being the fourth busiest/worst month of the year. It's beaten only by the OTHER report card months, which occur when even more is going on in life. (Honestly, I thought there was no way to pick a worse month until I heard about a CampNaNoWriMo in April. APRIL. Hahahahaha, no.) I did write 50,000 in August one time, and do a JulNoWriMo once.

That said - not currently teaching! So I do tentatively plan to participate this year. In part due to the community out there, which I haven't managed to be a part of. I haven't decided whether I'll write based on my serial or something else though. Three ideas. I should probably toss them into a blog post, and find out which thing people might be most likely to actually read. As to something special, I'm game, but unfamiliar, so will probably just keep an eye on things to start?
