New traditional novel

5 years ago | Ryan A. Span (Member)

Please don't mind the shameless plugging, I just wanted to make a quick post about my new regular non-serial for-sale kind of novel. This is my first published fantasy one, as well as my first published novel outside of STREET, and I'm really quite proud of how this one turned out. It's called The Impostor Prince; link below with all the info and a preview of the sweet cover.

I have to say, I really like the cover. Fantasy is pretty much my favorite genre so I might pick it up. I do have to ask, do I have to read Absent Gods trilogy to understand what's going on?

You absolutely don't need to read the AG trilogy to enjoy The Impostor Prince. They're quite different animals, and although there are references, they work both ways. It's only likely to make you more curious about what happens in AG rather than spoiling anything.

Ok. Thank you. I will definitely keep this book in mind. Also, is it a series or just a stand alone book?

It's a complete stand-alone novel. Beginning, middle, and an ending that wraps everything up. (My favourite kind of ending.) And if we ever write a sequel, that'll be a stand-alone story too.

Having done a trilogy already, finished back in 2013 after an endless struggle, I'm still sick to my stomach at the thought of writing another series. :P I'm sticking with single novels for a few years yet!

Thanks for all your interest, Emma, and I'll be sure to pass your compliments on to the artist!

Oh my god, thank you! You don't know how long I've been looking for a stand alone fantasy novel. They're always trilogies or series. It just gets depressing. I try to only read completed series because I dislike waiting for the next book to come out, and a lot of times, it just falls off my radar.

And yes, please do pass my compliments onto the artist. The cover is beautiful. I really love it!

Cover looks really nice, and it seems like you're already getting happy reviews. Congrats on the launch!

Thanks, Drew, I appreciate it! I am really proud of this one and thankful that people are having a good time with it.

Emma, I know exactly what you mean. I like a good series every now and again, but seriously, I don't want to be kept waiting for everything. George R.R. Martin already ruined that for me when I started reading that series in 2003 (which is still 7 years less than the people who got Game of Thrones on launch day). It's hard enough trying to be patient for the next Kingkiller book. I don't think I can take on any more. :P

PS. To the amazing people who bought the book through this post, I'd like to humbly beg you, if you get a chance, please take the time to leave a review on Amazon or wherever you got it (or Goodreads if you use it). Even just a line or two about how you liked or disliked it would be doing me a huge favour. Reviews are the lifeblood of serials and indie books alike, and I can't stress enough how much they help. People's testimonials are what let us carve out a foothold in this crowded market.

If you don't I'm gonna have to give you the puppy-dog eyes. You wouldn't want that, would you? They're _really_ sad.

Figured it wasn't appropriate to post a new topic, but I have another new project out, a video game I've been working on as team lead at Alpha Wave, called Euclidean. It came out on Steam this Friday and it's pretty crazy. Page is

PS. I'm currently recruiting talented 2d artists for a new game project. One character artist and one background artist, or both in one impressive individual. If you know anyone, get them to send a portfolio to
