Review Swap: Shatterbrain

1 year ago | Anonymous (Unregistered)

Hi everyone,

I've started this serial called Shatterbrain. I need some feedback on it, mostly to understand if it's a waste of time or worth continuing to play with. For now I have I think 10-15k words published.

I would love to review some other serial as part of a swap, hopefully another one similarly new and short.

As a very quick description, Shatterbrain is a dark, hallucinatory war tale set over various decades in a speculative 21st century, told through nested narration and in erratic anachronism.

Synopsis: In 2043, young aspiring psychologist Sophie discovers she has an uncle, Wallace, who has survived the devastating hardships the western world has gone through in the 2020s. With the help of a brain worm, a neuronal interface, Sophie can relive Wallace’s story in first person, spanning through a tragically one-sided world war, a doomed resistance movement, and unspeakable horrors in the malformed reconstructed society that follows.

P.S.: forgot to add. This serial has NSFW content and is intended for a mature audience.

Hi, I write 'Touch'Which is similarly short. I would love to do a review swap, although I would point out that I do want to finish my review of The Fifth Defiance first. So I'd probably be getting to yours by around the weekend. Touch currently sits at about 20000 words. Let me know if you're interested.

    You can find it at

That would be no problem at all, since I'm still stuck in the queue and you would have to wait for me to crawl out of it before you can post it anyway. I think we have a deal.

For anyone else: I would be very open to do multiple swaps. I'm definitely not in a hurry.

Hey, EmptyPattern, if you wouldn't mind sending me an Email at or providing me with some contact details that I may use, that would be appreciated. I have taken a look at your work, and consider it quite engaging, but there are some points I would like to make that I would prefer not to make over a public forum.

I've read the first page. If there are mature topics, then I won't talk about that on the review, maybe vaguely. My fiction currently has around 24.9k words and is called The Zone. It is also sci-fi, though much more into the future. I wouldn't mind a review swap.
