Submission timescales

2 years ago | Helen Taft (Member)

Hi all! I just want to start off by saying that I'm not complaining or trying to hurry anyone:). I just wondered what the current timescales are from submission to being added to the recently vetted? An approximate would do fine.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Helen,

Submissions are generally processed within a week -- and usually less. Stuff only gets to the "recently vetted" list once an editor marks it at "worth a look" or better -- that may happen on listing, at some point thereafter, or never.

Thanks for the reply, Chris. Perhaps there is a backlog then as I submitted my story 10 days ago on the 1st November--not talking about the 'recently vetted' here of course, but the new listings (I thought they were both one and the same) My bad.:).

    Hi Helen,

The queue is empty, at the moment. Are you sure you submitted it for approval? Is it marked "awaiting editor"?

    Chris.

Looks like Linda just processed it this afternoon, actually. And she gave you 4 stars, too. :-)

    Chris.

Hi Chris! Yes, I'm thrilled with the rating:D Trust me to post here a mere hour before the submission was processed. I must admit that my submission (before Linda got to it) continued to be marked 'draft' even after I clicked 'submit for approval'. I don't know if it should have been something else. Ah, well, all is good.

If it was showing "draft", that's probably why nothing happened with it -- it wouldn't have shown up in the work queue for the editors. I'll see about improving the labelling.

I did wonder, especially when I saw a similar post in the forum about a submission having remained in draft, which is why I resubmitted today (and it still said 'draft'). Possibly that first submission (I swear I clicked the right one!) went astray for some reason. Thanks for the replies to clear this up.
