Testing the waters

Hi all.
The last weeks I have been planning a project for promoting and spreading web-fiction.
If all goes according to dreams it should change the web-fiction landscape forever (insert evil I'll take over the world laughter here). If not it should provide a steady and large amount of traffic to web-fictions everywhere. If I fail completely I'll have learned a lot and I'll share what definitely not to do to promote yourself with all web-fiction authors.

I don't want to share to much of the plans for now, because it's all still very rough, and I don't want others to beat me to it. However I can share with you that one part of the plan includes a sort of web-fiction carnival. So here comes the 64.000 $ question, how many would be willing to write a short-story, a short serialised story, a poem, or something else for this? Something like a guest-post on a blog, only this would be quite a blog, and the post would be fiction.

The 32.000 $ Question is how many would/could offer something as a prize. (Like a free ebook, a voucher for something, anything you can imagine).

So far I can't guarantee you much for this, since the project is still very much in the womb (I'm not even sure that the egg and sperm have already met), but I can guarantee you that you're gueststory will be accompanied by a link to your site and works, a short blurb about you and your work and an awesome social-media promotion tool (which won't promote the guest-story, but your website).

Thanks for reading

Edit to add: that this project is to promote OTHER Web-Fiction, not my own.

Edit to add: What am I looking for?

Anything goes. I want to show off the wide spectrum of fiction available out there. I'd prefer something that's linked to what you're doing, but anything you feel shows off your writing style should do. That is, if it fits the basic quality requirements in grammar and spelling.

I can definitely put something together - a side story set in one of my fictions would be a natural fit, I think.

As for prizes, I don't currently have merch, so can't help out there, sorry.

This sounds neat :D I'm always up for the challenge!

fluffy-seme: Serial Fiction; cute Russian hockey players, hipsters, traveling-binge drinking English teachers, vampires ... just not necessarily in that order.

Ah, nice idea. I can write a short story to contribute. I don't have any merchandise, but I could probably offer up something else--a gift card of some sort? I could also help with the costs for getting this to work.

I suspect your problem won't be getting volunteers, it will be narrowing down your pool...

(And yes, I'd be curious about diving in too...)

Believe me, there will be room for everybody. I can fit in 2 serialised short-stories (5, 7, or 10 updates), and 20-30 short stories. I'll post all application info here at the end of august / start of september.

For now I'm very glad I already got this support.

Sure I would love to help, so I could try to come up with a short story. Do you have any word counts in mind?

I could offer a signed copy or two of Street: Empathy as prizes, if that's any good.

    Regards,
    Ryan

Ryan that would be absolutely great :) Thank you.

Zoe, I was hoping you'd join in. I haven't made out yet if wordcounts matter. So everything I say now is approximately.

Let's say every 'update' is ranging from 500 to 3000 words. If your story is longer (let's say 5000 words) I'd love for it to have a 'natural' break somewhere in the middle so I can divide it over 2 updates... And so on.

As I said, everything is still in a very rough stadium, I just wanted to check how eager people were to jump in so I could work it out more detailed in a realistic matter...

Ooh, sounds interesting, if not a little mysterious.

I think I'll volunteer, as well.

Yup, I'm in (most probably, allowing for ill-health and other crap). Short story? I'd offer a free ebook, but atm I'm only offering them free anyhow *lol*

I can definitely contribute a story. Don't have anything in the way of prizes, though.
