TV Tropes?

Have any of your stories ever been listed on TV Tropes? Are there any tropes that you think fit your stories?

I think "Butt-Dialing Mordor" fits in The Protector and the Peacemaker, in Mortoph's backstory where he ritualistically summons an ancient god and frees him in exchange for the strength to command the Slayers. It gets him possessed, his father murdered, and his consciousness imprisoned in his own brain for decades.

You know, I keep thinking about doing it, but it's been a long time since I plumbed the depths of TV Tropes. I don't really know the terms that well, and I feel like someone else would have to comb through my work and pick it out.

I guess that Graven could be considered to fall under such tropes as "Crapsack World" and what you might call "A Lighter Shade of Gray vs. A Darker Shade of Gray and Black Morality".

Near the beginning of my serial one of my readers created a TVTropes page for it. I’m not completely sure how I discovered it, but I linked to it from the story. Readers added quite a bit after that.

I hadn’t been thinking much about tropes until then. I still don’t think a lot about them except when I’m deliberately subverting them. The funny thing is that before the tropes page was created, I didn’t think used very many. I was wrong.

I actually stopped using TV Tropes a while back. One, I did it partially to advertise, but I got most of my views before the reboot from Reddit and TopWebFiction. Two, I think it's a little weird for an author to trope his own listing. Of course I know what tropes I used or subverted, I want to see what other people think!

That's the thing, I don't think in terms of "Tropes" when writing my stories, so I don't even know most of the terms that might apply to my work. I'd need a "troper" to actually put forth the effort of cataloging it.
