WattPad Account Deleted

1 month ago | AdamBolander (Member)

Long story short, I made the mistake of publicly disagreeing with a Wattpad forum admin, and they retaliated by getting my entire account deleted. That's really bad for me, because I've spent the last several years posting on there. I'd say probably 80% of my readership was on that site, and now it's just gone. What course of action would you guys recommend? Should I start re-uploading on a new account and hope they don't delete that one too out of spite? Or should I try to find some way to steer my readers towards one of the other sites I upload to?

Ooof, that's rough. I have no idea what to do, to be honest - I don't know Wattpad at all - but I sympathize and wish you the best of luck, hoping it gets sorted out.

Maybe speak to a higher-up and nicely ask them if it's possible to get the account back? If your issue was only with one forum admin, that is.

    That sucks, dude. :(

Like Chrysalis said, maybe try to make an appeal to another admin and see if you can get your account back. Not knowing the circumstances, that sounds rather extreme as a retaliation on the surface.

But whether you can do that or not, I would start steering your readership to your other posting sites, so you don't have so many eggs in one basket.

I wouldn't try to just make another account and sneak your stuff back on, because that makes you look bad to other mods/admins on principle on all the sites I've been to.

I wouldn't try to ban evade. They'll be looking for that and ban you all over again. Wattpad is dead to you basically. I'm not sure how generous Wattpad is about giving accounts back, but lets say they aren't.

What I personally would do is start focusing on what other platforms you have currently. If you had any social media links on your Wattpad, I would use those to reach out to your readers and point them to other places you've posted you stories on. You could always go and find another place to replace Wattpad. What that is, I've no idea.

From what I've seen, the admins stick up for each other more than they do other users. And most of them are happy to ignore trolls and harassment, but will jump down your throat if you say something that goes against their own beliefs. That's pretty much what happened here. I sent a complaint to Wattpad, but I doubt they'll do anything.

Good luck. If they freeze you out, I would just try to forge on elsewhere. I wouldn't want to post on a place like that.
