Anyone else going for broke and attempting the great challenge that is Nanowrimo? IF you have, do you plan to take a break from other projects like your serial for the month long insanity?

Every month is nanowrimo to me. I usually hit about 60-75k words/month.

Doing nanowrimo on top of that treads into the realm of insanity.

I just decided to do it on a whim. I'm already having fun; I have a good idea, a fun twist to play at the end, and I've pushed back the debut of the serial in my signature to December, so that I can give both projects my undivided attention.

I literally finished the first draft of a novel today, so I'm gonna take a few days off and them start editing.

No... I never did NaNoWriMo and I'm not sure if it's really my thing. But good luck to you all and kudos for rising to the challenge!

I've done it every year since 2003. :-)

I'm going to my local NaNo meetups to work on the final third of my current novel manuscript, hoping to finish it this month, but it probably won't require 50,000 words. (If it does, I've gone drastically over.)

I've never won Nano, but I intend to this year. My goal is 15,000 words on my ongoing serial, Tapestry, and 35,000 on a new modern fantasy story, Unreal Estate.

I did Nano my first year I started serializing... or rather I used it to force myself to write a lot of stuff early on. However, of what I wrote (before Thanksgiving shut down all my writing), I tossed some of that work, rewrote other pieces, or put it aside wondering if any of those ideas would be useful later.

In terms of its timing it was helpful in forcing me to just slog through the characters and get a feel for them. BUt it was not an efficient means to producing the final work nor would I use it the way I work now.

I would probably not use it for anything I was serializing ... just don't think what I would put out would be that good.

I don't even need 50k words by the end of the month to be happy. I'd be thrilled with 20k. Given my schedule, that would be a realistic goal. Now I just have to come up with something worth writing. Yay.

I'm going to give it a go. I have an idea I've been kicking around for a while, but I will be happy with whatever I get done. Huzzah for writing insanity ><

I've never done Nanowrimo. It's hard enough for me to keep up with writing my serial.

I always fail - I end up busy or going on a worldbuilding tangent.

I've had a few people ask me this year, so I just started a Google doc called "Fine I'll f'ing try NaNo". >_>

I've got the plot of the new RC Book #4 rattling around in my head, and it's one that doesn't count as a "rewrite" so it's my best option. Self-harm and undead mermaids ahoy!

I'm doing NaNoWriMo right now. I spent October writing four extra chapters so I have stuff prepared for this month. I've done NaNoWriMo for the last ten years (and also ScriptFrenzy and Camp NaNoWriMo. I for some reason keep failing Camp NaNoWriMo, I don't know why), so it's sort of an annual event for me.
