New Fiction Blog - does the layout make it hard to read?

Hi! I started a blog recently, where I'm posting a series of short stories in installments (new installment every Friday, each story lasts 6-8 weeks). I'd love to know if the blog looks ok - too much text per post? For some reason, the theme I chose in Wordpress insists on skipping lines between paragraphs, and I'm wondering if that makes the page hard to look at. Basically, I want to know if the layout makes the stories painful to read, and if it is clear that the installment on top is the most recent one, and that new readers should start from the beginning... It is hard for me to evaluate this stuff because I spend too much time staring at it, and all my readers are friends so I don't know if they are being completely honest when they tell me it's great. Obviously, new readers would also be great, so if you know anyone who might like to read it...

Thanks so much!

If there's some way that you can include a sticky post at the top that directs people to the first instalment of the story, that would be helpful. Or, perhaps, a static page (or pages) (which can be done in Wordpress, I'm not sure about that would allow you to post helpful information about the story and a link to installments gone by with, maybe, a blurb for the current installment that can be updated each time a new one is added (similar to what I do with Emerald Heights).

The readability is great, as far as I'm concerned. The font is large and clear and easy to see. The colours are quite nice if somewhat generic, but given that you're going to include more than one story there I guess that makes sense. With an average length of just over 1000 words per installment I don't think anyone would consider that too long.

For me, the biggest hurdle is the reverse chronological order. But a table of contents page or the like would take care of that quite easily.

Thanks! I can't figure out how to make it do most of that, but you're right, all of those things would help. I think if I buy a template, instead of using a free one, I might have more options... I have a little blurb on the right that explains what the blog is, but I know most people probably don't read it, and the archive widget acts a little bit like a table of contents, but it's still in reverse order... But you're right, I could make another page where I post links to each installment and call it a table of contents, which would pretty much solve the problem. I'm going to try to do that right now! Thanks so much for looking at it!

Table of contents page is up! I'm not crazy about how it looks, but it's there at least, and I can play with it later. Great idea! Now I just have to decide if that, instead of the blog itself, should be the front page...

Hm. I didn't even think of that. I'm going to see if they'll let me adjust it... Thanks so much!
